Make Tissue Paper Flowers

Party décor and decorations can be made from tissue paper flowers. They are eye-catching and colorful as well as inexpensive and easy to make.Pick a flower to make, such as a rose, and get started. In order to make all of the flowers, you’ll need supplies such as tissue paper, scissors, and floral wire.

Step 1: There are 12 sheets of tissue paper on top of each other.

You can pick any color you want.It looks better if you use the same color for all the sheets. The normal size of tissue paper is 33 by 51 cm.If you want to make them decorations for a party, follow your color scheme.

Step 2: All 12 sheets are folded accordion-style.

Follow each fold by alternating the direction of the fold.Make sure it will hold its shape. The paper should be 2.5 cm wide when you are done.

Step 3: For realistic petals, round the ends with scissors.

Use a pair of scissors to round the stack. This will make your tissue paper flower look more realistic. If you want to cut through that many layers, make sure your scissors are strong and sharp. They will make rough cuts if they are too dull.

Step 4: Cut a piece of wire for the stem.

Take a piece of wire and fold it in half, slip it over the center of the tissue paper, and tightly twist it closed.Wrap the wire with green floral tape. You can use a pipe cleaner to make a stem out of floral wire.

Step 5: The petals should be spread one layer at a time.

Spread the petals one at a time and pull them toward the center of the flower. This will fluff the petals and make them look like a real flower. There is a little space in the center of the flower. If you want to display the flower on a wall or flat surface, separate and fluff the layers on one side. The back can rest against a flat surface if it is left completely flat. You should fluff out both sides of the flower if you want to suspend it.The center should be left on both sides.

Step 6: Use your paper flower to decorate.

Birthday parties for young girls, baby showers, and bridal showers can be decorated with flowers. To hang the flowers from the ceiling, tie a length of monofilament to the floral wire.

Step 7: Pick one or two colors of tissue paper.

If you want a simple, classic look, choose one sheet of pink, red, or coral. An additional sheet in a different shade is needed for a two-toned rose. There are some combinations that really pop.

Step 8: There are 3.5 to 4 strips of tissue paper.

A single 3.5 to 4 inch strip of tissue paper is needed for the main petals.Cut another 3.5 to 4 in strip for an accent color.

Step 9: Pull the two strips together.

Place the accent color strip on top of the main strip and fold it in half. The accordion folds the strips in different directions every 1 in.

Step 10: Attach one side of the strip with scissors.

Take a pair of scissors and round the selvage end of the tissue paper. This will make a shape. When you’re done, gently unfold the accordion-folded strip and lay it out.

Step 11: A piece of wire is needed for a stem.

You can trim the floral wire once you have created your stem.

Step 12: Glue the edge of the strip.

Glue dots work best for this because they are more precise and create less mess, but you can also use hot glue or craft glue. The stem will come in contact with the strip if the glue is not close to the edge.

Step 13: The tissue paper should be wrapped around the floral wire.

Wrap the tissue paper strip tightly around the floral wire stem.As you wrap the flower, gather up any slack. You can loosen your wrapping to make it bloom.

Step 14: The slack should be secured with a strip of floral tape.

Wrap the tape around the base of the flower and then down the stem.Wrap the tape tightly to hold the tissue paper together.

Step 15: Spread out the petals.

You can arrange your rose’s petals by spreading them out. This will help make your flower look realistic.

Step 16: There are sheets of colored tissue paper for your flower.

Light blue, lavender, pale green, and pink are classic hydrangea colors. If you want to make leaves, you could use green tissue paper.

Step 17: Cut out the flowers.

Place your sheets of tissue paper in an inch-wide stack.Cut out a shape for the petals with a pair of scissors. To fill out the flower, you will need around 120 petals. You can make the petals any size you want, but 1 in is a realistic size.

Step 18: To make the flower’s base, bundle 30 pieces of floral wire.

You can bundle your wire pieces together by cutting them at 6 to 8 in.The bundle should be wrapped with floral tape from the top of the wire.

Step 19: The wires should be spread at the top.

The side wires should be in line with the bundle.

Step 20: Attach the petals to the wires with hot glue.

Make a small loop at the end of the wire by hot-gluing two petals to a wire.Adding more petals to fill out the flower will hide the loop.Continue until the flower is complete. You can double up the petals.Add extra petals in places where the wire peeks through if you want to cover as much wire as possible.Glue the leaves to the stem.

Step 21: Put your hands up the petals.

If you want to separate the petals a bit, you should move the ends around after the glue has dried. The flower will appear more natural.
