How To Password Protect an Excel Spreadsheet
From within the document’s settings, you can add a password to an excel spreadsheet.You can password protect documents in most renditions of excel if you don’t have the latest edition.You can learn how to open a password protected spreadsheet in the article How to Open a Password Protected Spreadsheet.
Step 1: Click on the document to open it.
Step 2: Click on the file.
This is on the left side of the screen.
Step 3: Click the Protect button.
Step 4: Click on “Encrypt with Password”.
Step 5: You have to type in a password.
If you lose your password, you won’t be able to open your file.
Step 6: Click OK.
Step 7: Re-enter your password.
Step 8: Click OK.
Step 9: Close the document.
Click Save Changes first if prompted.
Step 10: Open your document again.
You should see a field that says “your file is protected”.
Step 11: You have to type in your password.
Step 12: Click OK.
If you typed correctly, you should have access to the document.
Step 13: Click on the document to open it.
Step 14: You can click on the “Review” tab.
Step 15: Click Protect.
This is in the changes section.
Step 16: The “Structure” box should be checked.
Check the pertinent box if you have set up specific windows within the file.
Step 17: You need to type in your password.
You might need to do this again.
Step 18: Click OK.
Password-protected excel file!You will be asked to input your password when you open it.
