The easiest way to store apples is to freeze them.Apples should be preserved using either lemon juice, salt water, or fruit preserver, as they are usually peeled, sliced, and cored before being frozen.You can keep your apples tasty for up to a year if you place them in a freezer-safe container.
Step 1: The apples should be washed under clean running water.
Place the apple under the faucet and scrub it with your fingers to remove dirt.Dry the apple with a paper towel or cloth.The produce stickers should be removed from the apple as well.
Step 2: The apples can be peeled using a vegetable peeler.
Use the peeler slowly, starting at the stem, and working your way around the apple in a circle.The apple needs to be sliced before the skin can be removed.For every apple you are using, repeat this process.A paring knife can be used if you don’t have a vegetable peeler.
Step 3: Remove the core with a knife.
The apples should be cut in fourths with the cuts at the stem.To cut out the core of the slice, use the knife.To make the process easier, core the apples on a cutting board.
Step 4: Cut the apple sections into smaller pieces.
The number of slices depends on personal preference, but cutting the apple into 12 slices is a good size.You can slice them using an apple slicer, or you can cut them yourself.When slicing apples, place the apple sections on a board.If you want to make an apple pie, cut the apple into thin slices or cut it into square chunks.
Step 5: As soon as you peel and slice apples, preserve them.
The apples won’t be browning too quickly.You can use lemon juice, soaking them in salt water, or use a fruit preserver.
Step 6: Lemon juice can be used to keep apples from turning brown.
Combine 4 cups of water with lemon juice in a bowl and stir it with a spoon.The apple slices should be put in the bowl with the water and lemon juice.At some point, make sure all of the slices are submerged in the lemon juice mixture.The lemon juice and water mixture shouldn’t change the taste of the apples at all.The lemon juice contains ascorbic acid.
Step 7: The apples should be soaked in salt water to keep them fresh.
Put 4 c of room temperature or warm water into a bowl along with 1 US cup of salt.Add the apple slices after the salt has dissolved.Take the apples out after they sit in the salt water for a few minutes.To make sure they stay fresh, coat each slice with salt water.The salt prolongs the amount of time you can store apple slices without them going bad or getting freezer burn.The apples may have a salty taste.The salty flavor of apples may be helped by Rinsing them under water.
Step 8: Place the slices with a fruit preserver.
Purchase a fruit preserver from a grocery store and follow the instructions on the container to cover the apples.The fruit preserver should be applied in an even coat to cover both sides of each slice.The taste of apples shouldn’t be altered by fruit preservers.
Step 9: If you soaked the apple slices, drain them in a strainer.
If the apple slices were put in a liquid to sit for a while, drain the liquid from the bowl of apples by pouring it into a strainer.To make sure all of the liquid gets strained, shake the colander lightly.You don’t want to remove the lemon juice, salt water, and fruit preserver from the slices after they’ve been treated.
Step 10: You can spread the slices on the baking sheet.
To prevent the slices from sticking to the pan, Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.Place the apples on the paper so that they are evenly distributed.It is important that apple slices don’t touch each other on the baking sheet or stick together when frozen.
Step 11: Place the baking sheet in the freezer for a while.
The apple slices shouldn’t slide off the baking tray if it’s put into the freezer.If the slices are super thin or thicker, leave them in the freezer for about 3 hours.If you put them in a bag in the freezer, they will stick together.
Step 12: Remove the apples from the tray and put them in a sealed container.
Place the slices in a plastic bag or container after they are frozen.To prevent freezer burn, remove as much air as possible from the plastic bag or container.If you want to remember what the food is, you need to write the date on the container and then put it in the freezer.Use your fingers or a spatula to remove the apples from the paper.
Step 13: You can keep the apple slices in the freezer for a year.
Apple slices should last several months to a year in a freezer-safe container.Before freezer burn starts to form, try to use apple slices.If you want to thaw the apples, place the sealed container in the fridge for at least 6 hours or put them in a bowl of water.If you’re only going to use a portion of the apples, you should remove the rest from the freezer.
