How To Fix a Fake Tan

It’s tempting to lay in the sun for that summer glow, but it comes with consequences like sun spots and leathery skin. There are fake self-tanners that make the appearance of sun-kissed skin. They can be hard to apply. When a fake tan does in fact look incredibly fake, with streaks and smudges, it ends up being a modern day beauty disaster and major disappointment. It is easy to make a mistake when applying fake tans, but there are many remedies to fix the problem. It is almost impossible to get fake tanning to work the first time.Tanning products will react differently on everyone’s skin. There are ways to remove the unnatural looking spots from your tan.

Step 1: To make your face look better, apply a tinted Moisturizer.

Areas around the jaw line, edges of the face, and on the neck are the most common problem areas for post-fake tans.If you find yourself with fake tan in these areas, you should cover them first to protect your skin.If you want to hide the blotches, use a foundation or tinted moisturizer.First, wash your face with warm water and then gently rub your skin in circular motions with a cream or wash cloth. Then, apply a generous amount of face lotion, rubbing in circular motions which will help restore your natural tone.If you want to get a fresh face, apply the foundation or tinted moisturizers evenly to your face and neck.Stay away from foundations that are too heavy.

Step 2: The blushes and bronzers should be avoided.

Adding a third shade of tan to your face will only make the problem worse.Don’t match the foundation color to the tone of your face if you want it to be the right one.If you have two different skin tones you should match it to the tone of your neck.Don’t use fake tan on your face.If you want a fake tan, buy a foundation that matches it.As your fake tan fades, you can mix your foundation with your lighter color to match it.

Step 3: You can blend in your hands and wrists.

It can look like you dipped your arm into a can of paint.Adding more tanner is the best way to correct tan lines on hands and wrists.A cotton ball can be applied with a small amount of self tanner. If you want to apply the tanner slowly, start from the middle of your arm and work your way down.As you apply, use a circular motion. You can better blend in the tanner if you plan where your stopping line will be.Near where your thumb connects your wrists is where it should be.The top of your hands should be tanned. You don’t want tan arms and white hands. The area where the side of your hand meets your palm is where you can make small circular motions with your finger.

Step 4: Don’t forget your knuckles.

A lot of people are afraid of tanning because they don’t want their hands to turn orange. The rough and dry skin in this area can cause it to absorb more tanner and turn out dark.If you have a dry, rough area, apply fake tan products first. The lotion will keep the tanner from absorbing so rougher areas won’t look too dark.

Step 5: Carefully apply fake tan to your feet.

There are multiple skin types in close quarters which makes it easy to get dark spots.Place a warm wash cloth over the streaks and spot and then add more fake tan.Put the fake tan on a cotton ball and apply it to your calf.Use circular motions to work your way down. The cotton ball should have less fake tan on it when you get closer to your foot.If you don’t apply fake tan anymore, keep applying all around your feet. You should stop at the bottom of your feet.

Step 6: To get rid of dark spots, go all natural with sugar removal.

Lactic acid, AHAs or BHAs will help cell turnover, as will organic sugar scrubs. The best type of sugar to use is organic brown sugar. In a bowl, mix one part sugar with two parts water. After you have prepared your mixture, gently spread it onto the problem areas with your fingers and rub it on your skin.Allow it to sit for three to five minutes before rinsing it off.It is a safe and natural alternative to lathering your skin with synthetic chemicals that may do more harm than good.

Step 7: To remove fake tans, combine sugar and lemon juice.

Lemon juice is acidic and bleach-like.It can remove unwanted color from tans.If you buy lemonade at the store it may have different chemicals in it that you don’t want to apply to your skin, so make sure you use fresh lemon juice.Cut a lemon in half and squeeze it into a bowl.Take one cup of raw sugar and add some lemon juice.Using circular motions, wipe the orange areas with a cotton ball. After a few minutes of light massaging, your candy corn should be less discolored. If you want to completely remove your fake tan, use a loofah or other scrub brush with lemon juice and sugar mix.

Step 8: Baking soda and lemon juice can be used for a scrub.

It can be difficult to scrub against your skin with sugar.Baking soda can be used to remove the fake tan if yours is too sensitive. It leaves your skin feeling smooth. It may take more time to get rid of the streaks.Place equal parts baking soda and fresh lemon juice in a bowl. When the powder becomes a paste, mix it together. If it seems like a liquid, add more baking soda. You want the spread to stay on your skin.Rub it on your skin after you have developed your desired consistency.Take extreme streakiness into account until the tan disappears.Don’t scrub for more than three minutes. You can jump in the shower or clean off with water and a wash cloth.

Step 9: Over the lip mustache spots, remove dark hair.

Many people try to tan their face only to find that it doesn’t spread evenly. If your face is oily, sweaty, or dry, you will end up with dark patches that refuse to blend in, especially over your lip where fine hair grows. The skin on your face is sensitive and you can easily break capillaries if you scrub too hard.Rub a wash cloth with warm water and circular motions to lighten your lip.The area will lighten up quickly if you clean off the tanner that is attached to the fine hair above your lip.You can hide your lips while applying the tanning spray or cream. The fake tan will stick better around your mouth than in other areas.Rub on thinner amounts if you want to bring down existing tanner.

Step 10: It’s a good idea to use a toothpaste to smooth out a patchy application.

If you have dry or rough skin, you need to get rid of it before you apply more fake tan.Take the toothpaste and apply it to a dry cloth. You can see the fake tan rubbing off if you massage your patchy areas in a circular motion. After washing off your skin, apply the fake tan again. You can determine if the tan is dark after you give it enough time to develop. If you still see streaks, repeat the procedure. You may need to repeat this step three times in order for it to look the way you want it.

Step 11: If you want to remove the streaks, try anti-dandruff or peroxide.

The purpose of these products is to remove the top layer of skin and lighten the fake tan.Exercise caution because they may irritate sensitive skin.If you decide to use them, make sure the chemicals are not used on your face and neck. They should never be applied immediately after shaving.Put the mixture of the anti-dandruff and the peroxide on a wash cloth.Rub your skin with circular motions. If your skin becomes irritated, stop rubbing it.

Step 12: Pick up a bottle of hair removal cream at your nearest drug store.

The fake tan spots should be erased with a quality hair removal cream.Simply apply your hair removal cream, let it sit for a while, and then wipe it off. This may work, but be aware of skin irritation.Strong chemicals are used to remove dead skin cells. This may not be the best method for you if you have sensitive skin.

Step 13: To get rid of fake tan, use a scrubbing mitt.

If you notice that your tan is headed in the wrong direction, the fastest way to get rid of it is with a specialty exfoliator mitt. There are areas that are hard to reach with the double-sided mitts. It is important to make your skin soft in the shower or bath before using.Use reasonable pressure to rub your skin in a rapid vertical direction after squeezing any excess water from the mitt. You should see folds of dead skin and fake tan begins to roll away.To remove self-tanner, soak in a bath. Before you use your mitt, it is a good idea to loosen the top layer of dead skin cells.Adding a body wash to your bath will help remove dead skin cells.

Step 14: Understand how fake tans are created.

Sunless tanning products work on dead skin cells on the top layer of skin. The fake tan products react with the dead skin cells to produce melanoids, which result in increased pigmentation in that top layer. This means that a sunless tan only lasts as long as the top layer of your skin.A good fake tan can be created by starting with an even top layer of skin.

Step 15: Take care of your skin.

It’s important for fake tan results to have total body exfoliation and moisturizing. You should shave your legs, wash your body and face, and apply fake tan everywhere. If you want to self-tan, start peeling a few days before you apply the product. When applying the tanner, make sure to rub it in completely, paying extra attention to the knees, elbows, feet, and neck, all parts of the body that will absorb it more easily.

Step 16: Wait to go to the shower.

Before you get your skin wet, you need to let the tanner set for a while.Water will create streaky lines if the fake tan has not dried completely. When you are ready to shower, don’t use body wash or a luffa to wash your skin. This will change the tone of your tan.You can wash your body with warm water. If you want to dry off with a towel, make sure you are pat dry.Your skin will be soft and wet, so rubbing will remove your tan.Don’t forget to care for your entire body after your shower.

Step 17: Try using tinted self-tan products.

The distribution of the sunless tanner before it develops is what makes these fake tanners fool-proof.Better results can be produced by using tinted products. For a better window of opportunity to correct any spots before the DHA starts reacting with your skin and sets, opt for a lotion instead of a quick-drying foam.

Step 18: Don’t look at the orange glow.

When trying out a new brand of self-tanner, always start with a light shade, rather than a dark one at first. You can always go back and apply the darker shade, but it’s hard to get rid of the damage once you’ve turned bright orange. For the first time, you can try mixing your self tanner with equal parts lotion to get a fake tan.Make sure you mix the fake tan completely together so you don’t end up with streaks or spots.

Step 19: Take care of your fake tan.

If you want to fade an even tan, you can use an exfoliant. You should not shave your legs for 48 hours after you’ve applied the product.Don’t go in chlorine-filled pools or take long baths for the first few days after application because they will rub off the top layer of skin.

Step 20: Gloves can be used to prevent orange palms.

Nothing says fake tan like orange palms and feet.To make sure this doesn’t happen, apply the tanning lotion or cream with latex or plastic gloves. It can be more challenging to apply the tanner with gloves on, so if you think it will cause more harm than good, skip the gloves and just make sure you wash your hands many times during the application process. Before moving on to the next area, wash your hands and work on one body part at a time.

Step 21: Wait to get dressed.

You don’t want to ruin your tan or stain your clothes by getting dressed too soon after your application.Wait at least 15 minutes after applying it to get dressed.Dry your skin with a blow-dryer to make sure the self-tanner has set.If you start to sweat, stop blowing and it will cause streaks on your skin.Don’t wear tight clothes or thick fabrics when you are ready to dress.Put cotton on your skin.A cotton bath robe is the best thing to wear.
