Sweat and oil can easily be absorbed by hats. You can clean a dirty, sweaty hat in no time using one of the methods. You can get your favorite hat clean and sparkling with a little time and a few household items.
Step 1: Do you know if the fabric is fast?
If the dye runs, you need to submerging the hat in water.Rub a white cloth on a small area of the hat after dipping it in warm water.Don’t wash or submerge the hat if the dye comes off.The item can be washed if it doesn’t.If you try to wash a hat that isn’t colorfast, it will likely ruin it, so buy a new hat.
Step 2: Put a bucket with warm water and laundry detergent in it.
Allow the soap to fill up with warm water by putting it in the sink or bucket. The water can make bubbles. The color of the hat could be faded by using a detergent containing bleach or a bleach alternative.
Step 3: To get rid of sweat and grime, spray a stain treatment product on the hat.
You should treat the stain before putting the hat in the water. If you want to concentrate on the areas that absorb the most sweat, spray a stain treatment product directly onto the fabric.
Step 4: Put the hat in the soapy water for up to four hours.
You can swirl the hat around in the sink or bucket.Allow the soap to break down the sweat and oil in the fabric by soaking it in water for a few hours. If you want, you can stir the water or swirl the hat.
Step 5: The hat should be washed thoroughly with cold water.
The water can be drained from the sink if the hat is removed. The sweat and soap from the hat should be washed with cold water.Continue rinsing until the water runs clear.Take care not to ruin the shape of the hat by squeezing out the excess water.
Step 6: Allow the towel to dry the hat.
Place the towel inside the hat.If applicable, shape the bill.Place the hat near a fan or open window to get as much air flow as possible. It could take up to 24 hours for it to dry completely.Don’t let the hat dry in the sun.The clothes dryer may shrink or damage the hat.
Step 7: Take a look at what the hat is made from.
There is a care label on the inside of the hat.You can look up the information on the Internet or the manufacturer’s website. You can clean it in the dishwasher if it is made of jersey mesh, cotton twill, or a polyester blend. You should not use this method if it is made of wool. You can use the dishwasher if the hat is made of plastic. If the hat is made out of cardboard, you should spot- clean it to prevent water from damaging it.
Step 8: The top rack has a hat on it.
To keep the hat away from the heating element, place it on the top rack.If you put the hat on the bottom rack, it could become too hot and the fabric could shrink.Put a cap washer underneath your baseball hat to help it keep its shape. You can find them at hat stores. If you wash the hat or hats alone, the dirt and sweat will not show up on your dishes.
Step 9: Use a detergent that doesn’t contain bleaching agents.
Read the package carefully. If you see chlorine, don’t use the detergent as it could alter the color of the hat.Use a detergent that is all-natural.
Step 10: On a cycle without heated drying, run the dishwasher with cold water.
A heavy cycle can be used for pots and pans.Make sure the heated drying option is off when using the gentlest cycle.Don’t use warm or hot water, it will warp the plastic brim and shrink the fabric.
Step 11: If necessary, shape the hat and let it dry.
Remove the hat from the dishwasher after the cycle is over.If necessary, use your hands to shape the hat.Put it on a towel and let it dry.Plan to wear another hat in the meantime as this may take up to 24 hours. The hat can be ruined if it is dry in the clothes dryer or in direct sunlight.
Step 12: If the fabric is colorfast, you should check it.
The corner of the white cloth was wet.Rub the cloth on the inside of the hat.The fabric is colorfast if the dye doesn’t come off the cloth. You won’t be able to wash it if the dye rubs off.The hat will be ruined if you wash it.If the hat can’t be washed, you should buy a new one.
Step 13: If necessary, pre-treat the stained areas.
If the hat is dirty, you can spray a stain treatment product on the fabric to help loosen the sweat. If the product contains chlorine, it could fade the color.
Step 14: Make a solution of detergent and water.
Put a small amount of detergent into a bucket or bowl and fill it with water. If you want to remove sweat and body oil, you could use a mild cleanser. To create bubbles, swirl your hand in the solution.
Step 15: Put a clean cloth in the solution to remove the stain.
The cloth doesn’t need to be sopping wet, just put a little bit of the soap and water mixture on a small section. It can be used to remove dirt, sweat, and oil from the stained areas of the hat.Wet new areas of the cloth and scrub the fabric until you have removed all the stains.
Step 16: Cool water can be used to rinse the soap from the fabric.
Use a gentle stream of water to rinse out the hat after you have removed all the stains. If the hat has a cardboard brim, try to avoid soaking or submerging it.Pressing a towel into the fabric will absorb the excess water. If you need to change the hat, use your hands. If possible, place the hat in front of a fan.The fabric of the hat can fade from the sun and/or heat, so don’t dry it in a clothes dryer.
Step 17: Baking soda and warm water can be used to make a paste.
Add 4 cup of warm water and 4 cups of baking soda to a bowl. When it forms a paste, mix the ingredients with a spoon.
Step 18: Put the paste into the stain and let it sit for up to an hour.
The spoon can be used to apply the mixture. After scrubbing it into the fabric, let it soak in for up to an hour.
Step 19: Remove the paste from the water.
Cool water should be run over the areas you covered with paste.Don’t rinse until the baking soda is gone.
Step 20: The hat should be dry by air.
Excess water can be absorbed by pressing a clean towel into the fabric.Allow the hat to dry completely before you wear it again. The process can be sped up if it is placed near an open window. The hat might get damaged by the heat and light if it is dry in the clothes dryer or in direct sunlight.
